Mundo Cooperante

the rite of passage

The Tasaru Ntomonok Initiative works to prevent child marriage and female genital mutilation in Kenya, through training workshops and community awareness. Its objective is to raise awareness about the risks of these practices and offer alternatives through the so-called Alternative Rites of Passage for girls.

These public ceremonies enabled 100 girls to avoid female genital mutilation and gain the support of their families to continue their education. In addition, training in sexual and reproductive health and rights was provided to both families and youth in the community.

With this initiative, the Tasaru Ntomonok Initiative, with the collaboration of Mundo Cooperante, seeks to end practices that have affected many women and girls in Kenya and other parts of the world, and promote female empowerment and gender equality.
