More than 40 years after the death of the dictator Francisco Franco, Spain has still not repaid the outstanding debt owed to the victims of Francoism. The collective forgetfulness and little political will since the period of the democratic Transition has left thousands and thousands of victims and reprisals buried in ditches and mass graves that have not yet been opened.
