TOO TALL FOR SOCCER

Cheick Diallo went from living at home in a rural area in western Mali to playing in the NBA, the best basketball league in the world. As a child, the other children laughed at him because he was too tall for soccer. His father encouraged him to try basketball, and five years later he ended up landing in New York without a return ticket. The path was not easy: adaptation, language, culture. But Cheick overcame barriers on an incredible journey that ultimately saw him become the second Malian to make his NBA debut.
